Indianola is a rural residential area, just south of Kingston on the part of Puget Sound called Port Madison. It was originally established (in 1916) as a summer community for Seattleites. The Indianola dock, built when the Mosquito Fleet boats supplied the majority of transportation on Puget Sound, was easy access for weekending families. Now this local landmark has been converted for recreational use (shortened to 870 feet), and the center of on-going local activity.
Take the Seattle/Bainbridge ferry from downtown Seattle and another 30 minute drive to paradise. You can also take the Edmonds/Kingston ferry (10 minutes from the Beach House), or drive around via the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
One of the more interesting things in town is the annual summer festival “Indianola Days”, complete with fun run, amateur sand castle building, salmon bake, occasional talent show, and pet parade.
There are so many things to see and do on the Kitsap Peninsula! Surrounding towns include Kingston, Port Gamble, Suquamish, Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island and Silverdale. Fine dining, wine tasting, antique shopping and farmers markets are all within a short drive. We’re only 7 miles from the popular Clearwater Casino. White Horse Golf Club is just up the street. Lavender farms are abundant from Poulsbo to Sequim. The Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island is a real treat. The Suquamish Museum is filled with local history. Visit the Naval Undersea museum at Keyport, or the quaint Scandinavian town of Poulsbo with its many shops, restaurants, and beautiful marina.
